Appin's brand new race circuit will feature as the third round on the 2011 Rockstar Energy MX Nationals calendar.

MX Nationals promoter Kevin Williams was at Appin today inspecting the brand new racing circuit on the back side of the complex’s main practice track with staff from the Macarthur District Motorcycle Club, set to introduce an all-new circuit to the calendar for next season.

“Having a round back in Sydney will be exciting for the series,” Williams commented. “The new circuit at Appin looks great for spectators and we look forward to some great racing at a new track for the series.”

The round will be run in April as the third of the season, and Williams told MotoOnline.com.au that the series is currently working on a three-year deal with the club, with an option for another three following that.

Appin last hosted a round of the Australian Motocross Championship in 2003, that event won by Shayne King and Troy Carroll in the Open and Lites categories respectively.

It’s believed the 2011 Rockstar Energy MX Nationals calendar will expand to nine rounds for next season, with a final calendar expected to be released on Friday.

In positive news for South Australian fans, Murray Bridge is also expected to be returning as part of the 2011 calendar.

This season saw three-time MX Nationals Champion Jay Marmont capture a third consecutive crown in the Open class for CDR Rockstar Energy Yamaha, while the Lites class was taken out by JDR Motorex KTM’s PJ Larsen, the American winning as a rookie in the series. The Under 19s was won by Coastal KTM’s Josh Cachia.
